Historic Yellow Springs Archaeology Camp 2008

Hi!  Welcome to HYS Archaeology Camp!!

I started this site so that I can easily share things that I have found on the internet with you and so that we can have discussions and hopefully stay in touch.  I will also include some information about myself and what we are going to be doing all week.

A Little About Me!

My name is Jen Emmick.  I graduated from West Chester University in December 2007 with a Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology.  I have been working in cultural resource management (CRM) for about a year.  Right now I am working for Richard Grubb and Associates which is based in Cranbury, NJ.  They do archaeology in NJ, PA, NY, DE and MD among other places.  I am a research assistant, which means that depending on what kind of work there is going on I might be out in the field or in the laboratory.

For this camp we are going to be excavating a prehistoric site on the property of Historic Yellow Springs.  This site was first discovered in June 2006 during the West Chester University Field School.  A field school is a 3 or 4 week long class that colleges and universities offer to train students to do archaeology in a hands-on environment. We will be returning to the area where the site was discovered to further investigate.
